Ubong Friday Sends Message to Akwa United Faithfuls

Sequel to Akwa United’s shock defeat by El-Kanemi warriors, the third captain of the team, Ubong Friday has come out to appeal to fans for more support.

In a post-match chat with newsmen, he admitted the team was under pressure to deliver an early-season win.

“When we played the first half, we could not get a goal and it seemed like the pressure is coming because we were playing at home, and needed to score,” Friday pointed out.

He then further went on to stress the need for the players to be happy and put the loss behind them.

“We will work, we should work, we should stick together and be happy.    “I know they (fans) are not happy for now, but they should be happy. We didn’t come out to get such a result but we will still get a chance.”

Akwa United’s next match is on Sunday, January 20 as they trade tackles with Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano and Ubong Friday who is the third captain behind Otobong Effiong and Godspower Igudia will be looking to earn a shirt in the starting eleven.
