Tottenham Move Eight Points Clear In UCL Race Despite Premier League Draw At Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur have moved eight points clear in the race for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) despite playing a 1-1 draw at Brighton in a rescheduled Premier League game played on Tuesday.

After a goalless first half affair, star striker Harry Kane broke the deadlock for the North London side with five second half minutes gone as he capitalised on Brighton left-back Gaetang Bong’s mistake but the lasted for just 143 seconds following Pascal Gross’ penalty.

Both sides thereafter settled for the share of the spoils in their pursuit of respective targets with the season drawing to a close.

With the point gained, 4th-placed Tottenham Hotspur (68 points) have moved eight points clear of Chelsea, in 5th place, in the race to qualify for next season’s UCL having played a game more while Brighton (36 points) stay in 13th spot despite moving eight points clear of the relegation zone.
