
The Tojemarine Handball Academy and teams representing hosts Sokoto State took all the honours at the just concluded National Under 12/15 Handball Championship.
The final day of competition on Friday was graced by Sokoto State governor Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, his deputy and the entire State cabinet as well as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Others in attendance included the Ambassador of France to Nigeria Mr. Jérôme Pasquier and the entire board of the Handball Federation of Nigeria led by the president Mr. Sam Ocheho.
Tojemarine emerged victorious in the day’s first final beating Team Sokoto 18-14 to take gold in the U12 Boys category.
Team Kebbi won bronze after a tight 17-16 win over Najet.
Tojemarine also vanquished the hosts 16-13 in the U15 Girls final to claim their second gold of the tournament with Team Abia settling for bronze with a walk over victory against Team Imo.
Team Sokoto finally got a gold medal in the U15 Boys category with an 18-15 win over Team Adamawa in the final. Tojemarine took bronze after they defeated Niger 26-18.
Team Sokoto had earlier won the U12 Girls category on Thursday with Team Imo and Nisha settling for second and third respectively.
