Thiem Beats Kevin Anderson To Qualify For Madrid Open Final

Dominic Thiem is through to the Madrid Open final after he defeated Kevin Anderson of South Africa in straight sets in their semifinal clash.

The 24-year old hit 16 winners on the way to a 6-4 6-2 victory over his opponent.

He had ended Rafael Nadal’s 21-match unbeaten run on clay in the quarter-finals on Friday before booking his final slot where he will play Alexander Zverev on Sunday.

Zverev saw off Shapalov 6-4 6-1 to qualify for the final.

The Austrian, in search of his first Masters title, was a beaten finalists in the last edition following his straight sets defeat to Nadal.
