Team Nigeria has progressed to the round of 16 in the male Table Tennis event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The team achieved the feat by securing two wins over Belize and Malaysia in the group stages thereby topping Group 4.

The team made up of Olajide Omotayo, Bode Abiodun and Jamiu Azeez defeated Belize and Malaysia 3-0 and 3-1 respectively to progress to the round of 16.

Meanwhile, the country’s male Basketball team, D’Tigers, will face New Zealand in their first men’s group match on Friday while Milicent Agboegbulem takes on Tonga’s Salote Huni in the round of 16 of the women’s boxing event (75kg).
