
World number one Rafael Nadal will face Serbian Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the ongoing Wimbledon Open tournament following his thrilling five-set victory over Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.
The 32-year-old Spaniard defeated his opponent 7-5 6-7 (7-9) 4-6 6-4 6-4 to book a mouthwatering semifinal meeting with Djokovic, who had earlier beaten Kei Nishikori of Japan.
Speaking afterwards, the second seed revealed that he was delighted to have secured a place in the semifinals at SW19.
In his words, the second seed said: “Anything could happen, so this is a big achievement for me to get to the semi-finals at Wimbledon.”
“Now is the moment to enjoy but start to recover, it was a tough physical battle,” he added. “The opponent that is coming is one of the toughest. I am just excited to be in the semi-finals.” He added.
In the other semifinal, American star John Isner will face Kevin Anderson of South Africa after beating Milos Raonic of Canada 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 6-3.
Kevin Anderson became the first South African in the last four at SW19 with his stunning five-set win over top seed Roger Federer.
The eight-time champion was beaten 2-6 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 6-4 13-11.
