Svitolina Beats Top Seed Halep To Retain Italian Open Title

Elina Svitolina has retained her Italian Open title after she convincingly saw off top seed Simona Halep of Romania in their final clash on Sunday.

She was excited with her latest title while speaking after the match. In her words, Svitolina said: “It’s amazing that I could come and defend my title here. It’s really something very special for me.”

Elina Svitolina thereafter stated that her next target is the French Open at Roland Garros which starts on May 27.

Svitolina said: “I will try to take one match at a time, it’s very important in a Grand Slam.”

“It’s very tricky so we’ll see how it goes, but definitely I’m going to enjoy (going to) Roland Garros on a high note.” she concluded.
