Supreme Court Judgement Fallout: Police Officers Storm Glass House

The Police Command in Abuja on Monday deployed officers from the Wuse Division to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariat in a bid to prevent the breakdown of law and order at the Glass House.

The presence of police officers at the Glass House was prompted by Friday’s Supreme Court verdict which ordered the High Court retrial of the suit between the NFF President Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa.

23 armed policemen assumed strategic positions at both the entrance and inside the premises of the NFF secretariat though their presence didn’t restrict movement into the offices.

The presence of the armed policemen who came in two hilux vans and a car with registration numbers NPF 454HQ, NPF 8393C and NPF 439C was necessary after the Giwa-led faction reportedly threatened to take over affairs of the football federation before the High Court retrial just like the threat that was made when the High Court in Jos ruled in his favour.
