Super Falcons Thrash Gambia To Qualify For 2018 African Women’s Nations Cup

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the 2018 African Women’s Nations Cup in Ghana after they thrashed Gambia 6-0 in the second leg of the final round of qualifiers played at the Soccer Temple in Agege, Lagos State.

Thomas Dennerby’s girls had won Wednesday’s first leg 1-0 before the emphatic result in the return sealed the holders’ spot in Ghana via a 7-0 aggregate win.

Desire Oparanozie was the star of the game as she scored four goals in addition to a brace from Asisat Oshoala.

Nigeria will now join hosts Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Algeria and Zambia to battle for honours at the tournament scheduled to take place from November 17 to December 1, 2018.
