Super Falcons Captain Desire Oparanozie Bags Political Office

Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanozie has been named an Environmental Ambassador for Imo State by Governor Emeka Ihedioha.

The Guingamp of France striker took to her Twitter page to share the news on Monday.

“Honoured to have been named the state environmental ambassador by His Excellency, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. Together we shall make Imo great again,” she tweeted.

The 25-year old Imo state native has recently become a leading voice for social and human rights issues most notably lending her backing to the call for equal pay for male and female footballers.

She has won four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and represented Nigeria at three FIFA Women’s World Cup most recently captaining the side to the 2019 edition in France where they reached the Round of 16 for the first time since 1999.
