The Super Falcons of Nigeria will take on Austria in their quest for glory at the Cyprus Women’s Cup tourney in Cyprus today, Wednesday.
Yesterday, the team set foot on the Southern coastal city of Larnaca to continue preparations for the France 2019 Women’s World Cup having participated in the China Invitational Tournament earlier in January.
Drawn in Group C alongside Slovakia, Belgium and Austria, the 2018 African Women Champions are boosted with options in Barcelona’s Forward, Assisat Oshoala and Oparonizie who were absent from the team at China.
The 12th edition of the tournament will reach its crescendo on March 6 as the 12 invited teams hope to reach the finals.
Only three nations participating in the Invitational Tourney are France-bound; Nigeria, South Africa and Italy.
Other countries participating include hosts Cyprus, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, North Korea, Mexico and Slovakia.
The match is scheduled for 6 pm Nigerian time. Earlier in the day, South Africa held Finland in a four goal thriller in the opening match of Group A.
