Players and officials of the Super Eagles paid a courtesy visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday ahead of their trip to London.

The team met with President Buhari at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) chamber just before the customary FEC meeting as players and officials jet out to London for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup warm up game with England at the Wembley Stadium.

In his speech on behalf of the team, Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi praised the president’s contribution to Nigerian football as he promised that the team will make Nigeria proud.

Mikel said “We would like to say a massive thank you for what you’ve been doing for Nigerian football. This is the first time we’re going to a competition like this with no issues of money/bonuses. All we have to do now is go out there and make Nigeria proud.”
