Enyimba International FC left back, Ikouwem Udo has been handed a late call up to the Super Eagles squad that will face the Pirates of Seychelles in the final 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match and The Pharaohs of Egypt.

Ikouwem, who featured in last month’s U20 AFCON, helped the Flying Eagles qualify for the U20 World Cup in Poland later this year.

The 19-year-old has made a name for himself this season with the Peoples’ Elephant, becoming a force to reckon with in the back line.

Although Nigeria already qualified for the expanded tournament in Egypt, the youngster will need to prove himself to the Franco-German gaffer who is looking for the best legs to field come June.

Ikouwem becomes the third player from the Nigeria Professional Football League to get a call up to the squad after team veteran Ikechukwu Ezenwa of Katsina United and club side teammate Valentine Ozornwafor.

The Super Eagles will face Seychelles on Friday, March 22 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State and take on already qualified hosts Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday, March 26 at the same venue.
