Super Eagles Benefit From International Break in Latest FIFA Rankings

A double run of victories during the FIFA International break has given Nigeria’s Senior National Team a leap by four places in the recently released Men’s FIFA ranking based on the month of March, 2018.

The Super Eagles got a 3-1 win over Seychelles in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier and a friendly 1-0 win over Egypt both in Asaba to move up from 46th position to 42nd.

Nigeria is now third in Africa behind Senegal and Tunisia who are 23rd and 28th placed respectively.

Morocco (45) and Congo DR (46) make complete the top five while Ghana (49), Cameroon (54), Egypt (57), Burkina Faso (58) and Mali (65) complete the top 10.

In the World Ranking, Belgium maintained their grip at the summit followed by reigning world champions France and Brazil.

England push Croatia down to fifth to occupy the fourth position after securing victories against the Czech Republic and Montenegro in the 2020 Euro Qualifiers with Uruguay, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark completing the top 10.
