Sunshine Stars Sack Head Coach Duke Udi As Henry Abiodun Takes Charge

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side Sunshine Stars have dismissed head coach Duke Udi.

Duke Udi was asked to step down as the club’s head coach via a statement with former coach Henry Abiodun named as his replacement.

The club statement, signed by the Ondo State Commissioner For Sports and Youth Development,Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, was made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Akure.

The statement further revealed that the latest development was prompted by the complaints received from the Ondo State Football Agency (OSFA) over the act of insubordination and gross misconduct on the part of Coach Duke Udi.

The club statement said: “Following a letter received from d management board of Ondo State Football Agency on misconduct and insubordination of d head coach of d Sunshine Stars Duki Udi of a CAF Licence C category.”

“The  management board and the Ministry of Youth and Sports management at a joint meeting today (Tuesday) agreed that coach Duki UDdi should step aside with effect from today 13th March and the Technical Director of the team, Coach Henry  Abiodun of with CAF licence A should lead d team.”

Duke Udi leaves Sunshine Stars in 17th spot with 13 points from the first 12 league games of the season.
