Strong Second Half Performance Propels CHAN Eagles To The Quarters As Group C Leaders

The CHAN Eagles produced an emphatic second half display to beat Equatorial 3-1 in their last group game at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Morocco thereby ending the first round campaign as Group C leaders.

The Guineans stunned Nigeria just before halftime courtesy Nsi Eyama but second half goals from Anthony Okpotu, Dayo Ojo (smashing long range effort) and Rabiu Ali (penalty) overturned the deficit to take the team through to the knockout stage as Group C winners.

In the other group game, Libya struck late through substitute Elmutarem Abushnaf to beat Rwanda 1-0 meaning that they beat their opponents to the final slot in Group C.

Nigeria will now face the second-placed team from Group D in the quarter-final while Libya will play Group D winners.
