Spanish La Liga Review (Sunday): Barcelona Extend Lead With Big Deportivo Win

Barcelona have extended their lead at the top of the Spanish La Liga table to six points following their one-sided victory over Deportivo La Coruna at the Nou Camp.

Two goals apiece from Luis Suarez and Paulinho gave the home side a comprehensive 4-0 win over relegation threatened Deportivo and the margin could have been more but for the penalty miss from star forward Lionel Messi in the second half.

The win takes Barcelona clear of Atletico Madrid in second place and eleven points significantly ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid who missed out on the weekend’s La Liga action because of FIFA Club World Cup commitments.

Las Palmas 2-2 Espanyol
