Spanish La Liga Review: Real Madrid Bounce Back With Dominant Victory As Villareal Put Pressure On Top Four With Real Sociedad Win

Real Madrid bounced back from their disappointing Spanish Copa Del Rey exit to Leganes in midweek in grand style following their convincing 4-1 win at fellow top four chasers Valencia.

Zinedine Zidane’s team took the initiative in the first half with two penalties from Cristiano Ronaldo.

The home side fought back in the second half through Santi Mina who halved the deficit to 2-1 before two late goals from Brazilian left-back Marcelo and Toni Kroos made it a comprehensive win for the Los Merengues.

In-form Villareal continued their push for a top four finish and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) with an impressive 4-2 win over Real Sociedad at the El Madrigal.

Victor Ruiz, Pablo Fornals and Carlos Bacca gave Villareal a stunning 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes before Diego Llorente pulled one back in the 24th minute.

Samuel Castillejo added a 4th goal for the Yellow Submarines to complete an impressive first half display from the hosts.

Willian Jose pulled one back for the away side but it proved to be mere consolation against a Villareal side who moved within one point of Real Madrid in fourth place.
