Spanish La Liga Review (Monday): Deportivo, Espanyol Secure Important Victories

Deportivo La Coruna and Espanyol recorded vital victories in their quest to preserve their league status at the end of the season.

Deportivo came from a goal down to beat Las Palmas 3-1 courtesy goals from Celso Borges (2) and Lucas Perez (penalty) after Loic Remy had given the hosts a 7th minute lead while Gerard Moreno scored the only goal of the game to give Espanyol a 1-0 win over Real Betis.

The win was enough to take Espanyol six places upward into the top 10 while Real Betis stay in 8th spot despite the defeat. Deportivo on the other hand also stay in 16th position despite their win over Las Palmas, who remain in the relegation zone.
