Deportivo Alaves have moved closer to climbing out of the relegation zone in the Spanish La Liga after they defeated rivals Las Palmas 2-0 at home.

Two goals either side of halftime from in-form Ibai Gomez (4 goals in 2 games) and Munir El-Haddadi ensured last season’s Copa Del Rey finalists made it two successive league wins following Monday’s 3-2 win over Girona.

The win takes Alaves (12 points) above their opponents into 18th place and within goal difference of the last safety spot while Las Palmas (10 points) drop to second from bottom.
