Spanish Copa Del Rey Wrap: Vietto Hattrick Propels Valencia Into Quarters; Atletico Also Through

Argentina forward Luciano Vietto ended a long drought in front of goal as he netted a hattrick to propel his Valencia side to a 4-0 win over Las Palmas at the Mestalla on Tuesday night.

Luciano Vietto was starting his first game for Valencia after joining from Atletico Madrid on loan and he went on to achieve a laudable feat of netting a treble to end a one-year goal drought.

In addition to Vietto’s treble, Serbian midfielder Nemanja Maksimovic also scored to make it a 5-1 aggregate win over fellow their Spanish La Liga side.

In the other last 16 tie, Atletico Madrid thrashed lowly Lleida Esportiu 3-0 at home to record a 7-0 aggregate victory which was more than enough to see the team through to the quarterfinal.

Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco, Kevin Gameiro and new signing Vitolo (his first Atletico goal) scored the goals for Diego Simeone’s side.
