Spalletti Signs Contract Extension At Inter

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has signed a new contract at the club ahead of the new Italian Serie A season scheduled to kickoff at the weekend.

Spalletti, 59, has signed a new three-year contract until 2021.

The Italian tactician was appointed Inter Milan manager last summer and he went on to mastermind the San Siro giants’ six-year return to the Champions League following the 3-2 away win over Lazio on the final day of last season.

His contract extension was announced by the club on Tuesday evening.

On his new contract, Spalletti told the club’s website that: “I want to thank [owners] the Zhang family and the club for giving me the chance to extend my contract.”

“I would also like to stress that the signature was merely official confirmation of what was already in place, as my desire to continue fighting together for the good of this massive club was never in doubt.

“We’ve always had a relationship based on respect and mutual trust. Our daily discussions have made it clearer than ever that we want the same things for this club and its fans. Today we have strengthened the club’s shared ambitions.” The former AS Roma and Zenit St. Petersburg boss concluded.
