Spain To Face Japan In FIFA U20WWC Final

A new champion will emerge at the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup (WWC) tournament in France when Spain and Japan do battle in the final on Friday.

Japan knocked out the last of the former champions, Germany after the three-time winners were beaten 3-1 in the quarterfinals.

The Asians followed that result with the 2-0 win over England in the first semifinal on Monday afternoon.

Riko Ueki and Jun Endo scored within five first half minutes to give Japan the result needed to book a spot in Friday’s final.

In the other semifinal, Barcelona midfielder Patricia Guijarro scored the only goal of the game six minutes into the second half to help Spain to a 1-0 win over hosts France.

England and France will contest the 3rd/4th place playoff prior to the final clash between Spain and Japan.
