Sion President Slapped With Ban For This Bizarre Offence

Sion President Christian Constantin has been slapped with a 14-month ban for slapping former Switzerland coach Rolf Fringer.

Costantin slapped Fringer during Sion’s 2-1 win over Lugano in the Swiss Super League on September 21.

Apart from the ban, the 60-year old was also fined 100,000 Swiss francs (£77,804) as punishment for his offence after he was filmed slapping Fringer.

According to Fringer, who is now a television pundit, the Sion President had hit him several times before the blow caught on tape.

Costantin is therefore banned from entering all football-related venues though he has the right to appeal against the decision.

The Swiss Football League via a statement said: “The violent behaviour of Christian Constantin against Rolf Fringer, which (Constantin) doesn’t deny, is clearly a violation of the rules of conduct.”
