Serie A Review: Late Strike Dents Lazio’s UCL Qualification Bid

Diego Laxalt stunned Lazio and their fans at the Stadio Olimpico in added time to give his Genoa side a crucial 2-1 win over the capital in their Italian Serie A Matchday 23 clash on Monday night.

After a goalless first half dominated by the hosts, Genoa took a shock lead with ten second half minutes gone through ex-Lazio striker Goran Pandev only for Marco Parolo to hit back almost immediately with the equaliser before the latest show from Uruguay star Laxalt.

Lazio fail to close the 13-point gap on the top two as they stay in third place with 46 points and just two points away from the non-UEFA Champions League (UCL) places.

On the other hand, the surprising victory takes Genoa seven points clear of the relegation zone as they move three places from 16th to 13th with 24 points from the first 23 league games of the season.
