Serie A Review: Napoli Start Title Challenge With Tough Comeback Win At Lazio

Napoli began their campaign in the new Italian Serie A season on a winning note following their comeback win at capital club Lazio on Saturday night.

The Champions League campaigners are one of several clubs bidding to stop champions Juventus from winning an eighth successive league title this season.

Italian international striker Ciro Immobile scored 29 goals last season to emerge as joint topscorer alongside Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi and he continued from where he left off with the opening goal for the hosts on 25 minutes.

Carlo Ancelotti rallied his troops in his first league game in charge of Napoli with Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik getting the equaliser on the stroke of halftime.

Lorenzo Insigne then scored a fine second half goal for Napoli just before the hour mark to overturn proceedings in his side’s favour.

The Napoli defence held on for the remainder of the game to join early league leaders Juventus on three points.

In the earlier game, Juventus had to come from behind to beat their hosts Chievo Verona 3-2 courtesy a late strike from Italian winger Federico Bernardeschi.
