Serie A Review: Juventus See Off 10-Man Inter To Move Closer To The Scudetto

Italian champions Juventus have moved a step closer to retaining their Serie A title following their 3-2 comeback win over their hosts Inter Milan in a Matchday 35 clash on Saturday night.

Douglas Costa gave the visitors a first half lead against an Inter side that finished the half with 10 men following Mattias Vecino’s dismissal.

Inter Milan fought back with two second half goals courtesy Mauro Icardi and Andrea Barzagli (own goal) to take the lead despite their numerical disadvantage but that proved to be costly in the end as two goals from Milan Skirinar (own goal) and Gonzalo Higuain turned the game on its head again as the Old Lady secure a crucial 3-2 win in the race for the league title.

Maximiliano Allegri’s side (88 points) are now four points clear of their nearest challengers Napoli though the deficit could be back to one point if Maurizio Sarri’s team beat their hosts Fiorentina on Sunday evening.

In the other league game on Saturday, AS Roma strengthened third place and the push for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) with the 4-1 thrashing of Chievo Verona at home.

The win was very important as its a morale booster ahead of the capital club’s UCL Semifinal 2nd leg clash with Liverpool at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
