Inter Milan suffered the first shock result of the new Italian Serie A season following their surprising 1-0 loss at Sassuolo on the opening weekend.

Italian forward Domenico Berardi was the hero for the home side as he scored a 27th minute penalty to hand his side the maximum points at stake.

In the pick of the other games on Sunday, substitute Justin Kluivert and son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert proved to be hugely influential for AS Roma in their late win at Torino.

Kluivert Jr. provided the winning goal for Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko to give the capital club a 1-0 victory over their hosts.

In the remaining matches, Parma celebrated their three-year return to the top flight with a 2-2 at home to Udinese, while Bologna were beaten 1-0 at home to SPAL 2013.

Empoli also started the opening weekend on a winning note as a result of the 2-0 win at home to Cagliari.
