Victor Osimhen recorded his third goal involvement in as many games as Napoli climbed into the top four in Serie A with victory at Sampdoria on Sunday.

Osimhen has endured an up-and-down debut season in Naples but appears to have put his early-season difficulties behind him with a string of impressive performances in recent games.

The 22-year-old was on target in the 4-3 victory over Crotone on 3 April and followed it up with an assist against Juventus four days later before his latest strike today as Napoli saw off Sampdoria 2-0.

The Nigerian made the game safe for Napoli in added time, guaranteeing a hugely significant win after Fabian’s 35th-minute opener.

Osimhen now has five goals in 15 league games for Gennaro Gattuso’s men.

The victory lifts Napoli to fourth with eight games remaining in the increasingly intriguing battle for a Champions League place although Atalanta can regain fourth-place with a win at Fiorentina later.
