Victor Osimhen scored for the third game running in Serie A for Napoli but the Naples side conceded late on to draw with Cagliari at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Sunday to put hopes of Champions League qualification in peril.

Osihmen put Gennaro Gattuso’s side ahead in the 13th minute, holding Diego Godin off before slotting past Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno.

It was Osimhen’s third goal in as many league matches for Napoli and the Super Eagles ace appears to have put his early-season wobbles firmly behind him and is now justifying the club and African record fee paid to acquire him last summer.

However, just as it seemed Osimhen’s goal would secure all three points for Gli Azzuri, Nahitan Nandez popped up with a 94th-minute equaliser to deny Napoli the win.

The draw means Napoli suffer a setback in the chase for a Champions League place. They have 67 points from 34 games, one more point than Juventus who could replace them in the top four with victory at Udinese later on Sunday.
