Schalke 04 Beat Lowly Schweinfurt To Advance Into German Cup Second Round

Schalke 04 are through to the second round of the German Cup after they conveniently defeated fourth tier side Schweinfurt 05 in their first round clash on Friday night.

The Champions League campaigners won 2-0 to advance to the next stage.

Algerian international midfielder and man of the match Nabil Bentaleb gave the visitors a 24th minute lead from the penalty spot before an own goal from opposition striker Adam Sabiri with fifteen minutes left on the clock rounded off the easy win for Schalke 04.

In the other first round games played on Friday night, Bundesliga 2 outfit Darmstadt won 1-0 at the home of newly promoted Bundesliga 2 club Magdeburg, while third division side SV Wehen stunned Bundesliga 2 side St. Pauli 3-2 after extra time to book a spot in the second round.
