Cristiano Ronaldo missed his first penalty of the season in the second leg of the Coppa Italia as Juventus were held to a barren draw by AC Milan in Turin.
Although Juventus are through to finals of the competition thanks to Ronaldo’s away goal in the first leg which ended 1-1, fans felt the six time ballon d’Or winner was a shadow of himself on Friday night.
Ronaldo had won the penalty after he attempted jinking the ball past Andrea Conti as the ball hit the Italian’s arm.
It was Ronaldo’s ninth penalty of the season and prior to the game, the Portugalese possessed a 100 percent record.
However, the 35-year-old saw his spot kick tipped onto the post by Gianluigi Donnarumma to the jubilation of the away side.
Their jubilation was short-lived Ante Rebic was given a straight red following a VAR review which showed him planting his studs into Danilo’s chest.
Ronaldo’s miss stirred football fans to reignite the comparison between him and his rival Lionel Messi.
A section of fans blasted the 35-year-old’s performance.
However, there are fans who always stay loyal.
The Coppa Italia final is scheduled for June 17 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome
