Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has disclosed that his team is not ready for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Rohr was speaking in his post-match press conference after the team lost to England in their international friendly clash at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.
Gary Cahill and team captain Harry Kane gave the Three Lions a 2-0 lead at the halftime interval before Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi pulled one back at the start of the second half but the home side closed out the game 2-1 winners as Nigeria took its winless run against England to four games.
When asked about the lessons learnt from the game, Rohr said: “We’re not ready yet and we need to work more in the two weeks before our first game.”
Nigeria will face European football powerhouse Croatia in their first game at the tournament on June 16 before other group games against Iceland and former world champions Argentina.
