Rohr Unveils 30-man Provisional Squad For Russia 2018 World Cup

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has unveiled a 30-man provisional squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Franco-German tactician released the provisional list on Monday.

The list includes four goalkeepers, ten defenders, eight midfielders and eight forwards.

Goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho and Dele Ajiboye made the list.

The eight defenders include: William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, Bryan Idowu, Chidozie Awaziem, Abdullahi Shehu, Elderson Echiejile, Tyronne Ebuehi and Stephen Eze.

Team captain John Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Wilfried Ndidi, Uche Agbo, Oghenekaro Etebo, Joel Obi and Mikel Agu are the midfielders on the list while Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho, Junior Lokosa and Simeon Nwankwo are the eight forwards on the list.

The notable omissions include Junior Ajayi, Brown Ideye, Henry Onyekuru and Anthony Nwakaeme.

Nigeria will start their Group D campaign against Croatia at the Kaliningrad Stadium on Saturday, June 16 before facing Iceland in Volgograd on June 22.

The team will face old nemesis Argentina in Saint Petersburg on June 26 in their last Group D game.
