Rohr Confident About 2019 AFCON Qualification

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is certain that his team will qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.

Rohr led the team to a shock 2-0 loss to South Africa at home in a 2019 AFCON Qualifying Matchday 1 clash played last year and still retain the confidence that his team will book a place in Cameroon despite the defeat.

Results will, however, need to improve in the qualifiers starting from the Matchday 2 clash at Seychelles.

Former Bayern Munich defender Rohr reaffirmed his believe that the Super Eagles will qualify for the tournament during a press conference held in Lagos to unveil the squad to effectively and efficiently execute the project of getting the three points at stake against minnows Seychelles.

In his words, the former Burkina Faso and Gabon boss said: “We won’t miss the AFCON this time and we will be there.”

The Super Eagles of Nigeria won a third AFCON title under the late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi at the 2013 edition and went on to miss both the 2015 and 2017 editions won by Ivory Coast and Cameroon respectively.
