Brazil and Real Madrid Legend, Roberto Carlos have been jailed for three months by Brazilian authorities over unpaid child support worth £15,000.

44-year-old Carlos, who reportedly cited financial problems for the delay in paying former partner Barbara Thurler, has had his proposal to pay in installments rejected by Judge Mayane de Castro of Brazil’s family court.

However, Carlos’ lawyer, Fernando Pittner has declared that the 2002 FIFA World Cup winner will not serve the sentence as the case will be resolved as soon as possible.

Roberto Carlos had two kids with Barbara Thurler and recently welcomed his ninth child with current wife Mariana Lucon.

During his playing career, Carlos won three UEFA Champions Leaugue in 1998, 2000 and 2002 and the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.
