Rivers United shift attention to AITEO Cup – Esosa

Rivers United midfielder Esosa Igbinoba says the Club have shifted their attention to the Aiteo Cup after beating Remo Stars 3-1 in the league on Sunday.

Goals by Bernard Ovoke, Emeka Ogbugh and Esosa ensured they bounced back to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw by Katsina United in Port Harcourt on Matchday 33.

“We came all out to fight for the three points. We’ve been pushed to the wall. We know where we are on the log and we told ourselves that we just have to fight to get the three maximum points,” the former Nasarawa United star said after the win over Remo.

“The spirit was a little bit low, but when we heard that the coach was given a three match ultimatum, we talked to ourselves that this can’t happen.

“We are all in this together, so we have to fight and push everybody to the top. That’s why we came all the way to get the three maximum points.

He added: “We are out of the race for the title, we are shifting) our attention to the (Aiteo) Cup.”
