Richarlison: Final Piece Of The Jigsaw?

Following weeks of speculation, Everton have completed the signing of Richarlison. The Watford attacker joined the club on a five-year contract and will reportedly cost Everton a whopping £50 million.

Although it is believed that the Toffees have initially paid a fee of £35 million for the Brazilian youngster, the deal includes various add-ons, which could potentially make him the club’s record signing. Gylfi Sigurdsson, who was snapped for almost £45 million last summer is currently Everton’s record arrival.

Richarlison, on the other hand, is keen to help the Merseyside giants attain glory in the coming years. “I want to have a lot of success with Everton,” said Richarlison.

“I think it is going to be important for me to be with Marco Silva again. I will learn more because I am still learning as a player and I aim to develop and grow here.

“I developed really well with him while he was with me at Watford. It was really good working with him and one day I believe he can help me to be selected for Brazil in the full national team.” – he added.

As for Everton, his addition will be a huge boost considering the fact that the Toffees have struggled with their lack of potency in the attack throughout the course of last season. A host of their last summer signings have failed to live up to the billing, chief among whom are Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen.

Klaassen, in particular, was awful in his Premier League debut campaign and it is difficult to see him have a future at Goodison Park. And even though Theo Walcott seemed like a decent addition earlier this year, they still lack depth in the wide areas especially with Yannick Bolasie and Kevin Mirallas looking likely to meet with the same fate as Davy.

Therefore, Richarlison will undoubtedly play a key role in revitalizing the Everton attack this season. A dynamic operator in the final third, the 21-year-old is blessed with sheer pace and athleticism, qualities that will make him a perfect fit for the Toffees.

In addition, the Brazilian sensation also shares a healthy relationship with head coach Marco Silva, which could definitely help him settle into life at Merseyside. But having said that, it remains to be seen if the Portuguese mastermind can once again bring out the best from this highly talented attacker as they aim to make a strong impression in the Premier League next season.
