Reports: Liverpool To Make Thiago Alcantara First Summer Signing

Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly close to making Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara their first summer signing ahead of next season.

Spanish publication Sport reports that negotiations between Liverpool and Bayern Munich for the Spanish midfielder are at an advanced stage with only financial details remaining to be struck.

It is understood the Bundesliga champions want 35m euros for the 29-year-old Alcantara but the English champions are reportedly unwillingly to pay the sum in one fell swoop and would prefer a structured outlay.

The player has reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

Having spent seven years at Bayern and approaching his 30th birthday, the Bavarians are keen to do a deal for Alcantara who is reportedly keen on a new challenge and has indicated he won’t be renewing his deal which has one year left.

Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of the former Barcelona ace and observed him in person many times when he coached Bayern rivals Borussia Dortmund.

The Reds have found joy in the Bundesliga market and if the deal goes through Alcantara will join Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino as players to have made the move to Anfield from Germany.
