‘Record Breaker’ Kane Propels Tottenham Into Top Four After Masterclass Performance In Southampton Win

Harry Kane produced a masterclass in record breaking fashion for his North London side in their 5-2 thrashing of Southampton at home in what was a week 20 Premier League game.

The England international striker netted a brace to edge Tottenham into a 2-0 lead before further goals from Dele Alli Heung-Min Son in the second half compounded the visitors’ woes.

Moroccan winger Soufiane Boufal pulled one back to 4-1 to threaten a revival for the Saints before Kane completed his hattrick with a left-footed strike. Substitute Dusan Tadic pulled another goal back but it was too little to late for Mauricio Pellegrino’s side who turned out to be victims of Harry Kane’s magnificent performance.

The treble from Harry Kane means he has now set a new record of 39 goals for the most league goals in a calendar year beating the old record of Alan Shearer (36).

The goals also moved to 56 goals in all competitions in 2017 which is more than any other player in the top 5 European leagues.

The former Tottenham Academy player has now scored 6 Premier League hattricks in 2017 which is more than any other player.

The dominant win lifts Tottenham Hotspur (37 points) ahead of Liverpool into fourth position while Southampton (19 points) stay in 13th spot and are in immediate danger of falling into the relegation zone.
