Real Madrid Supremo Confirms Club Is Set To Float Women’s Football Team

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that the club is planning to float a women’s football team.

The focus of the new project would be training and development rather than competing.

Real Madrid have dominated men’s club football winning three of the last four UEFA Champions League (UCL) titles however it’s a bit surprising that the club is currently without a women’s side.

Perez had earlier revealed the plan to start a women’s football team during an interview with popular Spanish media outlet MARCA in June. He confirmed it again while speaking with club members on Sunday.

In his words, Perez said: “First of all, we want to make a women’s football department, for training.”

“We aren’t going to bring a team with players from other countries, but women’s football deserves a department, even if it is amateur.” he added.
