Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy, with the 23-year-old expected to have his medical this week according to Spanish outlet AS.
It is reported that the LaLiga giants are hopeful of being able to confirm the Frenchman’s signing this week.
Mendy featured for France in Sunday’s 2-0 friendly win over Bolivia, and according to reports in the French media, he is expected to undergo a medical with Real Madrid in the coming days.
Coach Zidane will be keen to have Mendy in his ranks, as the club’s other first-team left-back Sergio Reguilón is set to leave on loan this summer.
Mendy, who turns 24 on Saturday, will compete for the left-back starting position with club veteran Marcelo.
Since joining Lyon from Le Havre in 2017, Mendy has made 79 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, he has also won two caps for world champions France, having made his debut last November.
