The first ever Real Madrid Academy in Nigeria began its construction journey on Monday in the Rivers State capital of Port Harcourt.

The foundation laying ceremony for the academy took place just before the Super Eagles of Nigeria played DR Congo at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium but it was not criticism-free after the first block for the academy was laid in a shabby manner that didn’t represent the classy and elegant value an European football giant like Real Madrid represent.

The Real Madrid Academy project was initiated by the Governor Nyesom Wike-led Rivers State Government in conjunction with Spanish LaLiga outfit and 13-time European champions Real Madrid who recently defeated Liverpool 3-1 to win a 3rd successive UEFA Champions League (UCL) title.
