Real Betis Qualify For Europe With La Liga Win Over Malaga

Real Betis have booked their spot in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) for next season after they came from behind to beat basement club Malaga 2-1 at home in their Spanish La Liga clash on Monday night.

Moroccan striker Youssef En-Neysri gave the visitors a shock lead in the 20th minute but the lead only lasted for four minutes following Albanian-born Danish leftback Riza Durmisi’s strike as both teams ended the first half on level terms.

The hosts upped the tempo after the halftime interval but thir reward didn’t come until the final seventeen minutes when Fabian struck the winning goal on 73 minutes to take his side to Europe.

The win was enough to take fifth-placed Real Betis to 59 points which is enough for a UEL spot though UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification is still a possibility with the team eight points behind Valencia (67 points) who occupy the last qualifying spot with three games left.

Malaga, on the other hand, are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table with 20 points only from 35 league matches.
