The 2019 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League enters its second phase on Saturday with matches teeing off at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos.

The early kickoff in the male category of the tournament which will run till 17 October sees De Defenders take on Kada Stars by 7am following which COAS Shooters tackle league leaders Kano Pillars in what shapes up to be an epic encounter.

Sokoto Rima will then take to the courts against Bornu Spiders with Safety Shooters tackling Owena Kings in the next fixture.

In other matches to be played on Saturday, local favourites Lagos Seasiders will hope to ride the support of the crowd to victory when they play Prison Key Boys while Plateau Vipers will face an uphill task against defending champions Niger United.

In the female category, leaders Safety Babes will look to maintain their early season momentum when they square up against Abia Valliants, Edo Dynamos faceoff against Desert Queens while home team Seasider Babes tackle Akure based Owena Queens.

Other games in the female category, Defender Babes take on defending champions Plateau Peacocks, Kada Queens play Owerri based Imo Grasshoppers while Safety Babes return to the fray against Ghanaian champions, Ghana Police Force in a non-scoring contest sure to rekindle the ever present rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana.

Meanwhile, the president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Samuel Ocheho has praised the sponsors once again for identifying with the top flight handball league.
