Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2020: Safety Shooters Win Men’s Title, Delta Force Relegated

Safety Shooters have sealed the men’s title in the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2020, completing the feat on Thursday with a game to spare.

The FRSC-backed team defeated Plateau Vipers 30-23 to wrap up the title after amassing an insurmountable 30-point on the top of the standings, four points better than defending champions Kano Pillars beat De Defenders 22-14 on match day 13.

Seasiders Boys of Lagos defeated COAS Shooters 42-31 to move level with Pillars on 26 points but with an inferior goals difference while Borno Spiders are all but relegated from the topflight after they lost 21-34 to Confluence Stars.

Rima Strikers continued their quest for a top three finish with a 31-24 victory over Delta Force 31-24, with the result effectively relegating Delta Force to the second division.

Niger United did their survival bid a world of good by beating Kada Stars 28-22 to stay ninth.

In the women’s category, Edo Dynamos suffered their first loss in the tournament to debutants Adorable Angels with the Ilorin-based side running out 43-34 winners.

Dynamos stay top despite the loss but Angels can seal an unlikely title win with victory in their final game on Matchday 14.

Meanwhile, defending champions Safety Babes are now out of the running to retain their title following Angels’ win over Dynamos.

Elsewhere, Imo Grasshoppers defeated Desert Queens 23-17 while Seasiders Babes secured their topflight status despite suffering a narrow 28-29 lose to Kada Queens.
