Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2020: Niger United Stay Bottom, Sokoto State Donates Bus To HFN

Niger United remained bottom of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2020 after a sixth loss in as many games.

The 2018 Champions lost 25-27 to Confluence Stars on Matchday 8 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium on Saturday to remain without a win in this year’s tournament.

Elsewhere in the men’s category, Safety Shooters defeated Kada Stars 30-25, Lagos Seasiders Boys were 24-17 winners against a depleted De Defenders side, champions Kano Pillars defeated Rima Strikers 23-22 while Delta Force beat Borno Spiders 25-22.

In the women’s category Adorable Angels continued their winning streak with a comfortable 42-23 win against Seasider Babes while Defender Babes and Kada Queens played out a pulsating 21-21 draw.

Barshar Mohammed of Rima Strikers and Wuraola Nuhu of Adorable Angels were adjudged Most Valuable Players in the men’s and women’s category respectively at the close of action.

Meanwhile, the Sokoto State government has redeemed a pledge to donate a 32-seater bus to the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN).

The bus was delivered to the HFN after a short ceremony at MKO Abiola National Stadium on Saturday.

Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal represented by the state’s commissioner of youth and sports development Comrade Bashiru Gorau, handed over the brand new bus to the HFN in fulfilment of the pledge made during the National Division One Championship in Sokoto earlier in the year.

Governor Tambuwal also disclosed that the state was interested in hosting the 2021 edition of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League as part of the government’s desire to make the state the hub of handball in Nigeria.
