Premier League Review: Tottenham Edge Chelsea In Capital Clash To Boost UCL Hopes

Tottenham Hotspur took a major step towards sealing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) following their 3-1 win at London rivals Chelsea on Sunday evening.

It was billed as a crucial game in the fight for next season’s UCL and it lived up to expectations with Mauricio Pochettino’s men securing the three points at stake.

They suffered an early setback with Alvaro Morata’s opener for the Blues before Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen produced a belter on the stroke of halftime to drag his side back into the game paving the way for the Dele Alli show.

The England international midfielder decided the game in the visitors’ favour with two second half goals to hand his side the points at stake on what was his 100th Premier League appearance.

The win was Tottenham’s first win at Stamford Bridge since February 1990.

Earlier in the day, North London rivals Arsenal also won following their 3-0 home win over Stoke City courtesy goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2) and Alexandre Lacazette.
