Premier League Review: Stoke City End 10-Year Premier League Reign With Palace Defeat

Stoke City will be playing English Championship football as from next season after they lost their Premier League status with a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at home in what was their final league game at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Stoke City needed a win to boost their survival hopes and they were set on the way to achieving that when star player Xerdan Shaqiri gave them a first half lead only for the Potters to collapse by conceding two second half goals courtesy James McArthur and Patrick Van Aanholt.

The defeat means Stoke City end their 10-year stay in the top flight having gained promotion on the 4th of May, 2008 in addition to the fact that they drop to the bottom of the league as a result.

In the pick of the other games, West Brom continue to give themselves the fighting chance of staying up after they stunned Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 to climb off the bottom with England international midfielder Jake Livermore getting the only goal of the game.
