Premier League Review: Liverpool Thrash West Ham United To Go Second

Liverpool have leapfrogged rivals Manchester United into second spot on the Premier League table following their thumping 4-1 win over West Ham United at home in a Matchday 28 clash on Saturday evening.

Wantaway German international midfielder Emre Can, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Italian champions Juventus, scored on 29 minutes to give the Reds a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Mohamed Salah added a 2nd goal with six second half minutes to move level with Tottenham striker Harry Kane as the league’s leading scorer on 23 goals before Roberto Firmino scored a third goal six minutes later.

West Ham United pulled one back through substitute Michail Antonio but any chance of fightback evaporated with a fourth Liverpool goal from Senegal international Sadio Mane.

With the victory, Liverpool (57 points) have moved above Manchester United (56 points) into second place ahead of the Red Devils’ home game with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon while West Ham United (30 points) drop to 14th spot and are just three points above the relegation zone.
